Dear Soul Sister,
The song that you requested is ready.
Rain, Thunder, Silence & Love ~
When we discussed the plight of the homeless children in Brazil some decades ago, I knew that I’d found a soul sister. After we forged a path forward, you offered to contact those personally to whom SOS messages were already being sent – all from children in life-threatening circumstance and all sent to absolute megastars of the contemporary music scene: Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Ray Charles and others. My heart melted.
Fortunately the IMF stepped in and the genocide against the homeless children ceased.
That story is part of our theatrical production and too, a significant part of the doco, “The 3rd Millennium”…… currently it’s STOP the WAR -with MUSIC supporting the 44 Russian Chessmasters who petitioned Putin to stop the war.
After reviewing my work, you kindly opined that it was “absolutely world class” and asked if I’d write a song for you, to which I responded that I’d be most honoured to do so.
Although “If You Only Believe” had been written prior to your request, I still believe that it was meant for you to sing one day and, in doing so, change the world. As you can see by the link, we’re getting there. Regardless, as promised, here is your song; with my apologies for the delay.
It’s like nothing I’ve written previously, a song that drifts through the classic to soliloquy, reminiscence to inspiration, untethered by formal structure. It’s drawn from the notes of our interaction and, in essence, your own words, so I sure hope you like it.
Our last encounter was at your Australian concert, one chilly night in Brisbane. You mentioned how cold it was and I offered my jacket, which you wore throughout your performance. Then, like Cinderella, you left something behind.
Also, the coat has remained unworn thereafter and was to be part of the theatrical performance at the Science Theatre, Uni of NSW, which has twice been postponed by covid. “The 3rd Millennium” is a doco. With covid still lingering and with new strains, that production now appears more probable to be performed online.
Perhaps you may care to give consideration to presenting your song for our Masquerade online, part of the 3rd Mil doco. It’s for you to do with as you wish, if you like it. If you still care to present it , “If You Only Believe” awaits, if your schedule permits.
The world remains grateful to your contributions, especially to music and efforts to combat injustice.
Don’t stop.
Regards,
Kym

Rain, Thunder, Silence & Love”
Lyrics: Dionne Warwick,
lyric arrangement & music by Kids 4 Kids Inc (Ver. 1 )
Friends call me Dionne,
some say Dionne
It really doesn’t matter,
how you’ve come to know me
We’ve met and we’ve shared,
Sentiments captured in words
Reaching, reaching ….
across and beyond ….
Musically created, finding us,
Intrinsically related, binding us
Closer, to where hearts reach out,
where feelings open, spirits touch,
and Love exists
Universal connections aroused;
with music, beauty abounds
That feeling …. amazing
No necessity to see, just feel
We’ve reached across barriers
Been the love carriers
Stretched out for others
To friends, foes and lovers
For the fun that we’ve had
Amazing times, good and bad [RAIN]
The tough times, we survived!
‘Been down. We revived .. Yea!!
I owe so much to so many
We’ve strived to heal great divides
We’ve accomplished so much
But there’s more and besides…
It’s our legacy left
for those who come next
youngsters inspired to assist
[THUNDER++] That’s them, Dionne, Gen3M,
1st . generation of Millennium 3.
Humanity is needing;
some heed the pleading
Some hearts just cannot resist
Hold to your convictions, steadfast
You’ll find “impossible” is just a term
Made to be put in the past.
So many, so many, I feel you
Trapped by fate, so choiceless
My hope, my quest has always been
to be a voice for the voiceless
(FINGER ACROSS LIPS- Silence]
[6 SECS Silence then–]
Sharing of words, so profound
That carry happiness, kindness,
When we reach out together
we overcome so much blindness
I’ve been so privileged, so blest.
‘taught that dreams can come true
For me, one thing I’m sure of
Many came true because of you
The madness, the gladness,
promises to renew
It’s really all about
what makes dreams come true
I thank you all, so dearly
from the very bottom of my heart
Truly honored to be chosen
your voice of choice.
Yes! Privileged and blest
‘Cause of you; you’re the best
the best!!!
Your laughter, your tears,
your kindly applause
Moments and memories,
staying true to our cause:
Give love; give love; give love.
